TO DAD, IN APPRECIATION.

You must often feel  I take you for granted,
but this is so untrue,
As I love you Dad and realise,
there are very few fathers like you.

Very few who devote themselves,
as you do every day;
To the loving care of their family,
In such a dedicated way.

So I would like to say I appreciate,
all that you've done for me.
And always remember I love you Dad,
and I mean it most sincerely.

H.A.Rumbold.
MUM

To the Mother I have loved and lost.
You will always live in my heart.
To lose you, Mum,
was the hardest thing I have ever had to go through.
But I know you will be resting in the arms of Jesus.

To everyone who has a mother living,
love her and cherish her while you can,
she is the only Mother you will ever have,
so never take her for granted.

Mum, I know you knew I loved you so much,
I just wish you were here so I could tell you once again.
I will take care of Dad for you Mum, so rest in peace.

I LOVE YOU.

Your Daughter,
Moira.
MY HERO

As I ponder the love that I saw in his eyes,
A Godly love, given without compromise....
I recall many times that he stood by my side,
And prodded me on with great vigor and pride.
His voice ever confident, firm and yet fair,
Always speaking with patience, tenderness and care.
The power and might of his hands was so sure,
I knew there was nothing we couldn't endure.
It's true, a few others provided insight,
Yet, he laid the foundation that kept me upright.
He's the grandest of men to have lived on this earth,
Although he's not royal by stature or birth.
He's a man of great dignity, honor and strength.
His merits are noble, and of admirable length.
He's far greater than all other men that I know,
He's my Dad, he's my mentor, my friend and hero.

DADDY, MY HEART REMEMBERS YOU!
by Connie Smith

I miss the sound of a voice that spoke to me gently,
I turned around and that voice was gone.

I miss the touch of a hand that comforts me,
I turned around and that hand was gone.

I miss the laughter in a voice when I did something silly,
I turned around and that voice was gone.

I miss the two big arms that used to hug me
and throw me above his head,
I turned around and those arms were gone.

I miss the presence of a man called Daddy,
I turned around and my Daddy was gone.

You brought me shiny and new into this world,
I turned around and my world had changed.

You gave me laughter and good times,
I turned around and the laughter and good times were gone.

You gave me family and a feeling of security,
I turned around and that family and security were gone.

You gave me courage and strength,
I turned around and my courage was not as strong,
I turned around and my strength was weakened.

I brought new and shiny life into this world,
I turned around and my Daddy was not there to share my joy.

I laughed and cried and yearned for you to be there,
I turned around and my Daddy was not there.

I am still a part of you and always will be,
I turned around and my Daddy would always be there.

So maybe with some patience and a little luck,
I'll be okay with just your memory.

All my love,
Your first born daughter.

Gods Family Tree
BY Harry Higginson.

Do you ever wonder about life and death,
and loved ones whom have departed.
Is dying on earth really our very last breath
or believes like me a new journey has started.

Far beyond our planet, through time and space,
there is a world where life never ends.
A wonderful eternal galaxy, a divine heavenly place,
which human minds, cannot always comprehend.

Almighty god gave us spiritual souls inside,
he was the source of life for all creation.
And sent his holy son to be our guide
with a special message for each human nation.

The branches of life have an endless dimension,
Jesus Christ a vital part of gods family tree.
His death and resurrection, our hopes for redemption,
for a heavenly home and life for all eternity.

Miraculous Flight
BY Harry Higginson.

Another glowing specter soars through space and time
Towards a spectacular, dazzling light.
Over flowing with the power of spirit, soul and mind.

As we die, so begins the divine miraculous flight.

A galaxy awaits where everlasting life abounds.
Loved ones are there to show you heavens paradise.
Suddenly you will have an awakening that astounds.

A miraculous flight into a new wonderful life.

Planet earth was a part of gods greater plan.
Inspirational as we were given our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Crucifixion, the resurrection for this great man.

To show hope there will be countless miraculous flights.

By Harry Higginson.

Harry wrote this when my dad died and he read it out at the funeral service.

YOUR TOMBSTONE STANDS AMONG THE REST
NEGLECTED AND ALONE,
THE NAME AND DATE ARE CHISELED
OUT ON POLISHED MARBLE STONE
IT REACHES OUT TO ALL WHO CARE
IT IS TO LATE TO MOURN
YOU DID NOT KNOW THAT I EXIST
YOU DIED AND I WAS BORN
YET EACH OF US ARE CELLS OF YOU
IN FLESH, IN BLOOD, IN BONE
OUR BLOOD CONTRACTS AND BEATS A PULSE
ENTIRELY NOT OUR OWN
DEAR ANCESTOR, THE PLACE YOU FILLED
ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO
SREADS OUT AMONG THE ONES YOU LEFT
WHO WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU SO.
I WONDER IF YOU LIVED AND LOVED.
I WONDER IF YOU KNEW
THAT SOMEDAY I WOULD FIND THIS
SPOT AND COME AND VISIT YOU.

THE JOY THEIR VOICES BRING.
IT IS BEYOND DESCRIPTION
TO HEAR THE ANGELS SING.

HOW STRANGE IT FEELS
TO SPEND CHRISTMAS WITHOUT YOU,

FUN AND TOGETHERNESS,
OF FAMILY CRICKET MATCHES.
OF SANTA'S ARRIVAL.
EARLY MORNING WALKS
AND THE JOY OF GIVING.
WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU
FOR YOU LIVE ON IN EACH OF US
THE PEOPLE WHOM YOU HAVE LOVED
WE CANNOT TOUCH YOUR HAND
OR HEAR YOUR LAUGHTER ANYMORE
BUT WE FEEL YOU EVER NEAR.
GIVING US COURAGE AND STRENGTH
TO MAKE IT THROUGH.

A NEW BEGINNING, A NEW PAGE
WE WILL NOT DWELL IN THE PAST,
WE MUST LOOK FORWARD,
AND WE WILL CARRY YOU,

 WE REMEMBER THEM.
WHEN WE ARE LOST AND SICK OF HEART,
 WE REMEMBER THEM.
WHEN WE HAVE JOYS WE YEARN TO SHARE,

CAN YOU WASH YOUR FATHER'S SHIRT,
CAN YOU WASH IT CLEAN?
CAN YOU WASH YOUR FATHER'S SHIRT,
AND BLEACH IT ON THE GREEN?
YES I CAN WASH MY FATHER'S SHIRT,
AND SEND IT TO THE QUEEN.
!!!!!!!

THEY THAT WASH ON MONDAY
HAVE ALL THE WEEK TO DRY;
THEY THAT WASH ON TUESDAY
ARE NOT SO MUCH AWRY;
THEY THAT WASH ON WEDNESDAY
ARE NOT SO MUCH TO BLAME;
THEY THAT WASH ON THURSDAY
WASH FOR VERY SHAME;
THEY THAT WASH ON FRIDAY
WASH IN SORRY NEED;
THEY THAT WASH ON SATURDAY;
ARE LAZY FOLK INDEED.

THE OLD WOMAN MUST STAND AT THE TUB TUB TUB,
THE DIRTY CLOTHES TO RUB RUB RUB;
BUT WHEN THEY ARE CLEAN AND FIT TO BE SEEN,
SHE'LL DRESS LIKE A LADY AND DANCE ON THE GREEN.

I HAD A LITTLE WIFE
THE PRETTIEST EVER SEEN;
SHE WASHED UP THE DISHES
AND KEPT THE HOUSE CLEAN.

SHE WENT TO THE MILL
TO FETCH ME SOME FLOUR,
SHE BROUGHT IT HOME SAFE
IN LESS THAN AN HOUR.

SHE BAKED ME MY BREAD
SHE BREWED ME MY ALE
SHE SAT BY THE FIRE
AND TOLD A FINE TALE.

A MANS WORK LASTS TILL SET OF SUN
A WOMAN'S WORK IS NEVER DONE.
Simple words

We may give without loving, but cannot love without giving.
Restraint without love is barbarity.
Love without restraint commits suicide.
Love is not soft like water, it is hard like rock,
on which the waves of hatred beat in vain.
Love is a sweet tyranny,
because the lover endureth his torments willingly.
Love is incompatible with fear.
Love can neither be bought or sold, its only price is love.

Nil desperandum illigitimo carborandum.

The hardest part of living is learning to live again.
Tomorrow I shall wake up and it will be another day.
If you have love, set it free, if it returns, its yours to keep.
If it does not, it was never yours in the first place.
Always prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Gift of Days

For what is gift of days to me
Unless in Truth I learn to see
         That life is opportunity,
While every dawn that thrills my sight
         Unfolds in newness and delight,
         A resurrection from the night!

There are Times

There are times, my friend

When I feel the need to talk
To converse ...
Not with another, but my heart
There are times when I want to listen
Not to the wind or the crowds about me
But to my soul
There are times, my friend
When I want to take a walk along the beach
A solitary walk ... a walk with myself
I talk, and my heart listens
To my heart, I tell my most private thoughts
My fondest memories
My deepest emotions
To my heart, I bare my very core
And, then, I listened to the voice
That I know is my very soul
And, with the voice
Came the calm serene of the sea in the summer
The soft gentle touch of rain
The warm comfort of sun, in winter
The kind re-assurance of spring
And, when I take my walk
With every gentle wave lapping at my feet
The soft sand beneath my feet
But, my walk is no longer solitary
For I walk with me
I walk with myself
And, as the sun sets
Painting my world
Our world with a golden hew
I turn to myself
And, I see you!

I Believe

I believe in Miracles and dreams that will come true,
And I believe in happiness and friendship, through and through
I believe that when you cry your tears are not in vain,
And when you're sad and lonely someone knows that you're in pain.

I believe that when we laugh a sparkle starts to shine,
And before you know these sparks will spread
From more hearts than just mine.
I believe the gifts you have are there for you to share
And when you give them from the heart, the whole world knows you care.

I believe that if you give, even just to one,
That gift will grow in magnitude before the day is done.
I believe that comfort comes from giving part of me,
And if I share with others, there's more for all to see.
I believe that love is still the greatest gift of all,
And when it's given from the heart, Love will conquer all.

An 11th September Tribute

Daddy

Her hair was up in a ponytail
Her favorite dress tied with a bow.
Today was Daddy's Day at school,
And she couldn't wait to go.
But her mommy tried to tell her,
That she probably should stay home.
Why the kids might not understand,
If she went to school alone.
But she was not afraid;
She knew just what to say.
Of why he wasn't there today.
But still her mother worried,
For her to face this day alone.
And that was why once again,
She tried to keep her daughter home.
But the little girl went to school,
Eager to tell them all.
About a dad she never sees
A dad who never calls.
There were daddies along the wall in back,
For everyone to meet.
Children squirming impatiently,
Anxious in their seats.
One by one the teacher called,
A student from the class.
To introduce their daddy,
As seconds slowly passed.
At last the teacher called her name,
Every child turned to stare.
Each of them was searching,
For a man who wasn't there.
"Where's her daddy at?"
She heard a boy call out.
"She probably doesn't have one,"
Another student dared to shout.
And from somewhere near the back,
She heard a daddy say,
"Looks like another deadbeat dad,
Too busy to waste his day."

The words did not offend her,
As she smiled up at her Mom.
And looked back at her teacher,
Who told her to go on.
And with hands behind her back,
Slowly she began to speak.
And out from the mouth of a child,
Came words incredibly unique.
"My Daddy couldn't be here,
Because he lives so far away.
But I know he wishes he could be,
Since this is such a special day.
And though you cannot meet him,
I wanted you to know.
All about my daddy,
And how much he loves me so.
He loved to tell me stories
He taught me to ride my bike.
He surprised me with pink roses,
And taught me to fly a kite.
We used to share fudge sundaes,
And ice cream in a cone.
And though you cannot see him,
I'm not standing here alone.
Cause my daddy's always with me,
Even though we are apart
I know because he told me,
He'll forever be in my heart"
With that, her little hand reached up,
And lay across her chest.
Feeling her own heartbeat,
Beneath her favorite dress.
And from somewhere in the crowd of dads,
Her mother stood in tears.
Proudly watching her daughter,
Who was wise beyond her years.
For she stood up for the love
Of a man not in her life.
Doing what was best for her,
Doing what was right.
And when she dropped her hand back down,
Staring straight into the crowd.
She finished with a voice so soft,
But its message clear and loud.
"I love my daddy very much,
He's my shining star.
And if he could, he'd be here,
But heaven's just too far.
You see he was a fireman
And died just this past year
When airplanes hit the towers
And taught Americans to fear.
But sometimes when I close my eyes,
It's like he never went away."
And then she closed her eyes,
And saw him there that day.
And to her mother's amazement,
She witnessed with surprise.
A room full of daddies and children,
All starting to close their eyes.
Who knows what they saw before them,
Who knows what they felt inside.
They saw him at her side.
"I know you're with me Daddy,"
To the silence she called out.
And what happened next made believers,
Of those once filled with doubt.
Not one in that room could explain it,
For each of their eyes had been closed.
But there on the desk beside her,
Was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose.
And a child was blessed, if only for a moment,
By the love of her shining bright star.
And given the gift of believing,
That heaven is never too far
They say it takes a minute
to find a special person,
an hour to appreciate them,
a day to love them,
but then an entire life to forget them.
Send this phrase to the people you'll never forget, remember to send it Also to the person that sent it to you. It's a short message to let them Know that you'll never forget them. If you don't send it to anyone, it means you're in a hurry and that you've forgotten your friends.
Take the time...to live and love.
Until eternity. God bless.

You Never Know

A woman was waiting at an airport one night with several long hours
before her flight. She hunted for a book in the airport shop, bought a
bag of cookies and found a place to drop. She was engrossed in her book
but happened to see that the man sitting beside her, as bold as could
be, grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between them, which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene. So she munched the cookies and watched the clock as the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock. She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by thinking
"If I wasn't so nice, I would blacken his eye."
With each cookie she took, he took one too. When only one was left, she wondered what he would do. With a smile on his face and a nervous
laugh he took the last cookie and broke it in half. He offered her
half and as he ate the other she snatched it from him and thought... "ooh, brother! This guy has some nerve and he's also rude. Why he didn't even show any gratitude! She had never known when she had been so galled and sighed with relief when her flight was called. She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate. She boarded the plane and sank in her seat then she sought her book which was almost complete.

As she reached in her baggage
she gasped with surprise.
There was her bag of cookies
in front of her eyes.
"If mine are here" she moaned in despair
"the others were his and he tried to share".
Too late to apologize.
She realized with grief
that she was the rude one,
the ingrate, the thief!

How many times have you absolutely known that something was a certain way, only to discover later that what you believed to be true...was not?
Always keep an open mind and an open heart because you just never
know...
Meanings

Standing for what you believe in,
Regardless of the odds against you,
and the pressure that tears at your resistance,
...means courage

Keeping a smile on your face,
When inside you feel like dying,
For the sake of supporting others,
...means strength

Stopping at nothing,
And doing what's in your heart,
You know is right,
...means determination

Doing more than is expected,
To make another's life a little more bearable,
Without uttering a single complaint,
...means compassion

Helping a friend in need,
No matter the time or effort,
To the best of your ability,
...means loyalty

Giving more than you have,
And expecting nothing
But nothing in return,
...means selflessness

Holding your head high,
And being the best you know you can be
When life seems to fall apart at your feet,
Facing each difficulty with the confidence
That time will bring you better tomorrow's,
And never giving up,
...means confidence.

Soul Mates

Have you ever felt like you knew someone a long, long time ago?
Another place, another time, a friendship of the souls?
Two people who share a bond for reasons neither know,
A feeling that they were friends, a long, long time ago?

Did they stumble onto each other by pure circumstance,
Or was it fate and destiny that played a certain hand?
Two souls intertwined, they are worlds apart,
But the soul, it knows no difference, in matters of the heart.

Somehow they are drawn together, fate has brought them back,
Each living worlds apart, they journey separate paths.
When this life is over, and a new life begins,
Their souls will find each other, two souls that we call friends.

Poignant words

Many people will walk in and out of your life,
but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.

To handle yourself, use your head;
To handle others, use your heart.

Anger is only one letter short of danger.

If someone betrays you once, it's his fault;
if he betrays you twice, it's your fault.

Great minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.

God gives every bird it's food,
But He does not throw it into it's nest.

He who loses money, loses much;
He who loses a friend, loses more;
He who loses faith, loses all.

Beautiful young people are acts of nature,
But beautiful old people are works of art.
Learn from the mistakes of others.
You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

The tongue weighs practically nothing,
But so few people can hold it.

It is a luxury

It is a luxury:
to know you...
yes you -
stop looking behind you!

It is a luxury:
to be among friends...
all so mad and wonderful
you feel like you fit in.

It is a luxury:
to be on this earth...
with its leaves and dreams
and rivers and breathing things.

It is a luxury:
to be one unique spark
of the vast white hot fire
that is the ONE LIGHT -

........... that is LIFE!

What The Willow Whispered to Me

When the willow whispered to me,

he asked how all this was meant to be,

He whispered sweet words of truth which no one speaks here,

And he whispered softly a song which was music to my ears.

He sang about the trees and the flowers and the bees,

he sang about the stars, the moon, and the seas.

But he said some words that make so much more sense now

he said live your life happily but make sure you know how.

That's what the willow whispered to me on that windy day so softly....

The Water Bucket

There is an old water bucket
Lying out beside the fence.
Why anyone would keep it
To me just made no sense.

The bottom is so rusty
No water will it hold.
The handle is all twisted
The bucket is so old.

For many years I kept it
For the good that it had been.
It used to serve a purpose
But that was way back then.

Now it's just an eyesore
A useless piece of rusty tin.
I thought that I would trash it
With other junk and then..

I heard the sound of thunder
In the distant sky.
And then a softer, sweeter sound
And this one was near by.

Was the sound of summer raindrops
Beating a rhythm like a drum.
I listened in amazement
And then began to hum.

I noticed a sparrow taking refuge
Underneath a big green tree.
And he began to sing along..
With the raindrops and with me.

I saw the leaves were dancing
And flowers swayed
Beautiful and bold.
As raindrops on an old rusty bucket
Made music to cheer the soul..

I lifted my eyes toward Heaven
And thanked my Father there.
For teaching me this lesson
And now with you I share.

I was feeling just as useless
As that bucket seemed to be.
Just going through a season
Of thinking, no one needed me.

But then I was reminded that to..
Give an encouraging
Word or a smile.
Could mean the world to others
And that made my life worthwhile.

All things serve a purpose
So look around and consider again..
The things you thought were useless
Like the rusty bucket made of tin.

Remember to Forget

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.

Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.

Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

      ~ Author Unknown ~

Friends are blessings that come into our life originally disguised as
strangers.

She rocks another baby

She rocks another baby...
hums an age old lullaby
She hopes no one is watching
as with thanks, she starts to cry
Remembering the time
when the babies were her own
And her mother told her gently
too soon they would be grown
Lots of bedtime stories,
skinned knees, and tears to dry
Teddy bears, toy trucks and dolls
and kites up in the sky
First days of school, first loves,
first cars the proms, the wedding days
Sand castles and snowball fights
and teaching them to pray
Now, as she holds her grandchild
and gives thanks unto the Lord
She knows to be a Grandma
is motherhood's reward!

Summer Shower

Dark clouds rising from the Southwest,
        Hot sun obscured,
        A cool wet breeze.
Gray wall in front of the mountain,
        Giant missiles pelt dry dust.
Rain beating, beating on the roof,
A wall of water swaying with the wind,
        Slacking up, then thundering on,
        Dark, green, wet world.

Corn wagons rumbling across the sky,
        Jagged lightning streaking earthward,
        Storm dwindling to a shower,
        Sun shining through the clouds,
And a rainbow over the mountain.
        Shafts of sunlight slanting downward,
        From holes in the clouds.
Drops of water glistening on the leaves,
        Sunlight spreading over all.
        Water dripping from green trees,
        Birds come out of hiding,
        Flying and singing,
        Tranquil peace.

The Woodcutter

I remember an old cartoon
of a woodcutter short and stout.
He carried his axe on his shoulderblade
    into the Redwoods and out.

Amongst these giant trees, he made his choice
picking the tallest and the best.
The scene showed flying chip after chip
as he chopped away at his quest.

When he emerged, with his task complete,
he was smiling proud and grand ~
and a tiny little toothpick gleamed,
held by the fingers of his hand.

Today, I realize this old cartoon
was not so much about trees,
but the confidence we have within ourselves
and how sharp words bring us to our knees.

Kind words make us grow and flourish~
turn us into something great ~
But biting words chip away at our soul
bit by bit, and then it's too late.

Our ego that once stood proud and tall
    dwindles to a tiny stick
and all it takes to break our heart
    is one more tiny pick.

Twilight Thoughts.

A little evening prayer, a little bed;
        Two tired little feet, two heavy eyes;
Soft pillowed on my breast a curly head;
        Forgetfulness bewitched with lullabies.
I kiss the dimpled cheeks then fondly stray
Across the mem'ry meadows of the day.

What trifles filled my darling's heart with grief,
        What simpler trifles turned it into joy;
A little fall brought tears, a kiss relief,
He offered scarf and mittens for a toy.
He talked all day about his cherished plan,
To be when grown an organ-grinder man.

Sleep lays my riper follies by awhile:
Does God recount them then and fondly smile ?

If the world was blind

  If the world was blind,
     maybe then we'd see
     the true side of beauty,
     deep within you and me.

     No one could judge us
     by our outer looks,
     like the fancy covers
     on expensive books.

     We'd see with our hearts,
     and not just our eyes,
     and what we discover
     might be a surprise.

     There would be no need
     to try to impress,
     with the way we look,
or the way that we dress.

The only thing that would matter
is the way we would feel,
     not phony or cheap,
     but truthful and real.

BEGIN AGAIN

One of the best things we can do in our lives is this:
begin again.

Begin
to see yourself as you were when you were the happiest and
strongest you've ever been.

Begin
to remember what worked for you
(and what worked against you),
and try to capture the magic again.

Begin
to remember how natural it was when you were a child
- to live a lifetime each day.

Begin
to forget the baggage
you have carried with you for years:
the problems that don't matter anymore,
the tears that cried themselves away,
and the worries that are going to wash away
on the shore of tomorrow's new beginning.

Tomorrow tells us it will be here every new day of our lives;
and if we will be wise, we will turn away from the problems of the past
and give the future - and ourselves - a chance to become the best of
friends.

Sometimes all it takes is a wish in the heart to let yourself...
begin again.

For everyone that makes you cry,
there are three to make you smile,
And a smile will last a long, long time,
but a tear for just a little while.

Don't let someone who hates the world
cause you to hate it too,
Behind the clouds is a Golden sun,
and a sky that's full of Blue.

If someone said a thing that's cruel,
don't let it get to you.
Your achievements are greatly numbered,
and your faults are very few.

So if a certain person should act a certain way,
Think of those who Love You,
And don't let it spoil your day!

Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul.
Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal
