Charlie my dear friend
Passed away 23rd December 2005

My parents met Charlie & Marion in the 1960's and from that day they have been not just friends but family. Charlie watched us grow up and watched our children grow up. And how all the kids loved him and he them. He was the one that got our girls ears pierced as I was to chicken to do it. And Kylie as soon as she saw Charlie she was up on his knee sucking her thumb And Charlie would tell her if you don't stop doing that you will end up with a thumb like mine and he would hold his half a thumb up. He called it his UMB..We don't really know how he lost his thumb as all the kids got different stories about what happened to that thumb. We had many a good time with Charlie and Marion. I will never forget the new years day ritual with my dad and how Heather would have to take them first footing from house to house.
He had a saying its in the book. I don't know where that book was but when ever he told us something or vice versa he would say it's in the book in his lovely Irish brouge. And you have never known a hug unless you got one from Charlie. Girl or boy young or old you got a hug. He would just stand with his arms open and you just fell into them..Oh how I will miss those hugs..
I will never forget the day his good mate my dad died he was the first one around to see me. He just held his arms open to me and said I know I cant take his place but I'll be your dad now. and for weeks after he would come over every couple of days to make sure I was ok..

WE loved him and we will miss him. it's in the book as he would say.....God bless you Charlie have a good Hogmany with your good mate my dad..
Love you,,,
Moira
